Saint Zeno of Nicomedia

Imperial Roman soldier and regimental commander. As the emperor Diocletian offered sacrifice to a statue of the goddess Ceres, Zeno laughed at and ridiculed the whole procedure. His jaw was shattered for having spoken, his teeth pulled out, and he then was beheaded for his sentiment, in AD 303 in Nicomedia, Bithynia (modern Izmit, Turkey).
